FAQs

General Questions

Where are you located?
I am located in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia but my childhood home is in Central PA. All packages include travel for up to 50 miles from Lynchburg, VA or Lewisburg, PA. If you are booking a wedding that is not within this radius, don’t you even worry. I’m a big fan of travel and a big fan of you. Contact me for more information on travel rates.
Will you travel for my engagement session or wedding?
Two words. HECK YES. You might be interested in checking out my “Bucket List Weddings.” I’m a self-proclaimed wanderlust and am more than happy to come to your town or meet you at the epic destination of your choice. When it comes to travel, we can discuss during booking. I typically book my own airfare, hotel, and transportation, so you don’t have to worry about a single thing.
How many photographers do you work with?
Most of the time I am a one-woman show. However, if you desire an extra set of eyes, I work with many talented photographers.
Do you have insurance?
I wouldn’t leave home without it!
Do you bring back-up equipment to our shoot?
Yes. I ALWAYS carry backup equipment just in case something decides not to work.

Booking and Payment

We need you in our lives. How can we book you immediately?
YAS! Go ahead and fill out the contact form with your wedding date so that I can check my availability. Once you determine which package is perfect for you, I’ll send along a contract for you to sign and a retainer invoice for you to pay.
What is required to book my date?
I require 30% down along with your contract to book the date. The final 70% is due 1 month prior to the wedding date.
What forms of payment do you take?
I take it all! Cash, check, bank transfer, or credit card. I use an online invoicing system that will make the exchanging of money process very simple.

Shooting

When should we do the wedding portraits?
This is TOTALLY to you. However, if you are even considering a first look, DO IT. Shooting before the ceremony allows you to check one more thing of your list of wedding-day to-dos. It also affords you the opportunity to enjoy those bacon-wrapped scallops and signature cocktails before they get gobbled up. Couples tend to be a bit more relaxed when they have a chance to hug their hunny sooner in the day.
Have you shot at my venue before?
I do find myself shooting at several venues over and over again. However, if I haven’t, I’ll ensure that I arrive early on the day of and scout out the best locations. I’ll also do extensive research online before the big day arrives.
I don’t photograph well -and am super awkward. Can you help me?
I’VE GOT YOU! I’ll help you through every stage of the shoot and ensure that you feel like a superstar. Sometimes it takes a little bit to warm up, but I guarantee that you will feel comfortable and relaxed. My posing style is very natural and I tend to play little games in order for you to feel at ease.
What do you do if we have an outdoor venue and it rains on our wedding day?
Most venues will offer you a rain plan with a backup indoor location. I can adapt to any situation. My favorite wedding photos have so much more to do with the couple in love and less to do with the backdrop, so don’t let rain get ya’ down. Honestly, I secretly LOVE rain. It’s a fun and adventurous twist that typically brings a little laughter and spontaneity into your photos.

After the Wedding

How long will it take to see my photos?
Engagement galleries are available 2-3 weeks after the shoot. Weddings normally take 6-8 weeks.
How many wedding photos will I get?
It all depends. However, on average, I deliver a minimum of 50 photos from your engagement session and a minimum of 400 images from your wedding day.
Can I have or see all of the unedited photos you took at our wedding?
Nah! I never release any unedited photos. Because I take SO MANY photos during your wedding day, you will appreciate the pristine gallery of all of the best shots (no half blinks or double chins included).
Can I upload my wedding photos to Facebook or share on Instagram?
Yes! It’s not official until it’s Facebook official. When you share, make sure to tag Lauren Elsasser Photography (and please don’t add any filters!)
